The Art Theater (AT) at the Faculty of Arts was alive with a massive crowd and incredible energy as ZeroPlastic University of Peradeniya successfully brought Youth Vibe to life. Far from being just a standard movie screening, this immersive event marked a major milestone for our university community, effortlessly mixing high energy entertainment with a deep, meaningful commitment to environmental sustainability.
The evening officially kicked off at 6:00 PM with an inspiring welcome address by Nishan Madusanka, the Membership and Fellowship Development Avenue Director. Speaking directly to the gathered board members and dedicated volunteers, his opening words set a powerful, unifying tone for the entire night, highlighting exactly how crucial youth leadership is when it comes to shaping a plastic-free future.
Right after the opening remarks, the event moved into a dynamic orientation session that ran until 6:30 PM. This phase served as an eye opening deep dive into what the ZeroPlastic society is all about. The audience was guided through our core mission, the incredible global benefits and rewards you unlock after joining and a proud look back at the society’s past environmental projects. It was a perfect way to show everyone how simple, everyday green choices can create a lasting ripple effect way beyond our campus borders.
At 6:30 PM, the main highlight of the night, the screening of Youth Vibe unfolded on the silver screen, keeping the audience completely hooked until 8:40 PM. The film beautifully brought out the idea that entertainment can be an amazing tool to inspire real world change, hitting the right chord with everyone in the theater. As the credits rolled, Nishan Madusanka came back on stage to deliver a heartfelt thank you speech, sharing his deep gratitude with the audience and the team who worked behind the scenes to make this vision a reality. To wrap up the successful night, the entire crowd gathered together for a massive group photograph, capturing the proud smiles of a generation united for one great green cause.
This exceptional event was brought to life by the pure hard work and hours of dedication put in by our Organizing Committee. The entire project was led with fantastic teamwork and a clear vision by the Chair Sathusha, Co-Chair Dilhani, Secretary Saranya and Treasurer Janusha.
Turning a conceptual project like this into reality required a massive amount of coordination. The event’s digital presence, aesthetic visuals, and high impact captions were uniquely crafted by our Content Writer Nayomi, along with Graphic Designers Akindu and Janani. Meanwhile, public relations and delegate logistics on the ground were expertly managed by PR Coordinator Senuri and Delegate Coordinator Saranya.
At the same time, the operational success of the event was powered by the non stop energy brought in by our Event Coordinators, Sadewni, Shamika, Ashmini, Navodya, Kishanth, Nawsha, Kijalan, Akaliya, Nifa and Paramanantharaja with the essential financial and logistical backing handled by the Fundraising Coordinators Jerom, Samadini, Vojithma and Dasintha.
By seamlessly bringing cinema and environmental advocacy onto one stage, Youth Vibe has set a brand new benchmark for campus initiatives. ZeroPlastic University of Peradeniya has proved once again that when the youth find their true rhythm, the journey toward a cleaner, sustainable world becomes an unstoppable movement.
