Deep Roots, New Heights: ZeroPlastic University of Peradeniya Ignites a Green Revolution!

 

A powerful new seed of sustainability was officially planted in fresh soil on June 22nd. Danthure Central College became the epicenter of an unstoppable movement as ZeroPlastic University of Peradeniya officially launched the long awaited “Future Roots” project, empowering the next generation to break free from plastic.

 

The morning ignited at 8:00 AM with a vibrant opening ceremony, followed by the traditional lighting of the oil lamp. This symbolic spark set a luminous tone for the day. After a heartfelt welcome, the Principal stepped up at 8:25 AM to deliver a hard hitting address, contrasting the eco-friendly past with today’s plastic heavy reality. Her words resonated deeply as she declared a strict mission to eradicate plastic waste from the school premises entirely.

 

The momentum continued at 8:35 AM with an inspiring session by the President of ZeroPlastic University of Peradeniya, who introduced the club’s global vision and mission. The energy reached its peak at 8:50 AM during the Appointment Letter Distribution, officially birth marking the school’s new student leadership. Following this, the Advisory Teacher expressed deep gratitude, emphasizing how this partnership boosts the students’ leadership potential and the school’s recognition.

 

At 9:10 AM, the audience was captivated by a profound guest speech from the University Lecturer (Resource Person), who reminded everyone that true leadership begins with taking responsibility for a greener tomorrow. The historic session concluded beautifully with a souvenir distribution and a proud Vote of Thanks at 9:55 AM, sealing a partnership built for the future.

 

This milestone event was brought to life through the brilliant synergy and dedication of our Organizing Committee, led by the strategic vision of Chair Sankalpa, Co-Chair Rahma, Secretary Sachini and Treasurer Nadeesha.

 

The creative heartbeat and digital narrative were masterfully shaped by Content Writers Nayomi and Buddhima, alongside Graphic Designers Dilum and Dasithya.
