ZeroPlastic NDT Club Launches NextGen 1.0 School Club at Dunkannawa Secondary School

The ZeroPlastic NDT Club organized NextGen 1.0, the official installation ceremony of the ZeroPlastic School Club at Dunkannawa Secondary School in Chilaw. The project formally established a student-led environmental club at the school, creating a platform for young people to take an active role in reducing plastic waste within their school and surrounding community.

The purpose of NextGen 1.0 was to launch a functioning ZeroPlastic School Club by installing its members and providing them with a clear sense of responsibility toward environmental action. The initiative aimed to extend the reach of the ZeroPlastic Movement into the school level by equipping school students with the awareness and structure needed to carry out plastic reduction efforts.

The ceremony included several structured activities. A flag handover was conducted to formally mark the establishment of the new school club. School students took part in an environmental oath, committing to the objectives of the ZeroPlastic Movement. An awareness session was held to educate attendees on the importance of reducing plastic waste. The event also included a tree planting activity, reinforcing the environmental purpose of the occasion.

Through these activities, school students at Dunkannawa Secondary School were formally entrusted with the responsibility of leading ZeroPlastic initiatives within their school.
