Green Guardians 2.0 Brings Waste Management Awareness to Bandaranayake College Gampaha

The Waste Management and Recycling Avenue of the ZeroPlastic Movement, University of Kelaniya, organized Project Green Guardians 2.0 on 13 October 2026 at Bandaranayake College, Gampaha. The project was an environmental awareness initiative aimed at educating school students about waste management, recycling, and the environmental consequences of plastic pollution and improper waste disposal.

The initiative was designed to provide school students with practical knowledge about responsible waste handling and to encourage the adoption of environmentally conscious habits. By bringing this programme directly to a school setting, the organizing team sought to reach young people at a stage where awareness and education can shape long-term attitudes toward waste reduction and environmental responsibility.

Certificates were distributed to participating school students, and a commemorative token was presented to Mr. Ranwella in appreciation of his contribution as the resource person for the session.
