ZeroPlastic NDT Club Holds Trail ’26 Cleanup at University of Moratuwa and Diyagama
The ZeroPlastic NDT Club’s Public Relations Avenue organized ZeroPlastic NDT Trail ’26, a cleanup and awareness project held at the Institute of Technology, University of Moratuwa, and the surrounding Diyagama area. The project was carried out in alignment with the ZeroPlastic Main Trail ’26.
The project was organized with the goal of protecting the environment and reducing plastic pollution in and around the university and neighboring community areas. It also aimed to promote responsible waste disposal practices and encourage reduced plastic use among those in the area.
During the project, volunteers carried out a roadside cleanup, collecting waste along routes in the project area. Alongside the cleanup activity, participants engaged in raising awareness among the local community about keeping the environment clean, minimizing plastic consumption, and disposing of waste properly.
The project brought together ZeroPlastic club members and volunteers, providing an opportunity to work collaboratively as a team while contributing directly to a cleaner local environment. The hands-on nature of the activity allowed participants to engage practically with environmental issues rather than addressing them only in theory.
ZeroPlastic NDT Trail ’26 served as a straightforward but meaningful effort to address plastic pollution and waste accumulation at a local level. By combining physical cleanup work with community awareness, the project reinforced the importance of individual and collective responsibility in maintaining clean public spaces.
The project represents a continued effort by the ZeroPlastic NDT Club to carry forward the environmental objectives of the broader ZeroPlastic Movement, contributing to its mission of reducing plastic pollution through volunteer-driven action at the university and community level.
