ZeroPlastic Movement Holds Levelup Phase 02 Workshop at Pinnawala Central College

The Professional Development Avenue of the ZeroPlastic Movement, University of Kelaniya, held Levelup Phase 02 on 2 October 2026 at Pinnawala Central College in the Kegalle District. The project combined a personal branding workshop with an environmental awareness session, reaching over 450 participants at the school.

The project was organized to support the personal development of school students while promoting environmental responsibility. By bringing together professional skills training and awareness on plastic waste, the program aimed to provide participants with practical knowledge relevant to both their personal growth and their role in reducing plastic pollution.

The personal branding workshop was conducted by Mr. Chamil Yahampath, Co-founder and CEO of Celsius IT. The session guided school students through practical examples and interactive discussions covering personal identity, confidence, communication, mindset, and professional presentation. An environmental awareness session on plastic waste management and sustainable practices was also delivered as part of the program.

A notable element of the event was the official launch of the “Beyond the Ink” pen-bin initiative, which encourages students to collect and dispose of used pens responsibly. The initiative introduced a structured approach to managing a common but often overlooked source of plastic waste in schools. Certificates were awarded to participants in recognition of their involvement in the program.

The combination of professional development content and environmental education offered school students a broader perspective on the relevance of responsible habits, both in their personal conduct and in how they manage everyday waste. By addressing personal branding alongside plastic waste awareness, the project connected individual growth with environmental consciousness in a way that was accessible and practical for a school audience.
