On 6 June 2026 a focused community cleanup walk removed plastic litter from the streets between Yatinuwara Pradeshiya Sabha and Peradeniya. The two hour Green Walk No Plastic brought together 20 volunteers and 8 Top and Director Board Members and resulted in 30 garbage bags of collected waste.

The event was organized under the ZeroPlastic Movement environmental sustainability avenue in collaboration with Yatinuwara Pradeshiya Sabha. The cleanup walk started at the Yatinuwara Pradeshiya Sabha and ended in Peradeniya, and the local authority supported the effort by providing refreshments.

Participants moved along the route collecting plastic waste and general litter while promoting environmental awareness among the public. The work combined practical cleanup with community outreach to encourage better waste habits.

The activity tackles plastic pollution and promotes responsible consumption and waste management. It aligns with SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production and reflects the value of local cooperation under SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals.

The project was completed successfully and contributed to creating a cleaner and greener environment, demonstrating how local action and simple measures can strengthen community responsibility for the environment.
