Green Force 2026 by ZeroPlastic University of Colombo

The “Green Force 2026” initiative, a flagship environmental project organized by the ZeroPlastic Colombo Community, was successfully launched at Anula Vidyalaya on April 7th, 2026, from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.. The program went beyond a traditional awareness session, offering an engaging experience designed to educate and empower the next generation to actively address the plastic pollution crisis.

The session was conducted by a dedicated team, that guided over 100 enthusiastic students through an interactive learning experience. Far from being passive listeners, the students actively participated in discussions, asked insightful questions, and shared their own observations about plastic pollution in their surroundings.

Through a dynamic presentation, students were introduced to the lifespan of plastics, the dangers of microplastics, and the practical implementation of the 3R concept (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle). The learning environment remained lively and engaging, particularly during the interactive Q&A segment, where students were rewarded for correct answers, further encouraging participation and enthusiasm.

In addition to the core awareness content, students were also introduced to other impactful initiatives by the ZeroPlastic Colombo Community, including “Penbin Love,” “Sea Spark,” and the “Harithabisheka” national debate competition, broadening their understanding of ongoing environmental efforts.

A major milestone of the event was the official establishment of a ZeroPlastic School Club at Anula Vidyalaya, creating a permanent platform for environmental action within the school. This step ensures that sustainability education and eco-friendly practices will continue beyond the event itself, nurturing long-term behavioral change among students.

Introducing the ZeroPlastic Commitment Standard – the world’s first certification focused solely on refusing and reducing single-use plastics.
