In today’s rapidly evolving and competitive world, academic excellence alone is no longer sufficient to succeed. Professional growth, confidence, communication, and personality development have become equally important in preparing students for future opportunities. Recognizing this need, the Professional Development Avenue of the ZeroPlastic NDT Club, University of Moratuwa, proudly organized “ElevateU”, a professional development awareness session dedicated to empowering university students through self-improvement and personal growth.
Held on 4th May 2026 at Z0725 Hall, ElevateU brought together enthusiastic students with a shared interest in becoming the best versions of themselves. The session was designed to create awareness about the importance of professional growth and personality enhancement while motivating students to take meaningful steps toward preparing for their futures with confidence and purpose.
The event was honored by the presence of Dr. Ruchira Wijesena, Senior Lecturer at ITUM, who joined the session as the guest speaker. Through an engaging and insightful discussion, Dr. Wijesena shared valuable experiences, practical advice, and inspiring perspectives on personal and professional development. His session emphasized the importance of confidence, continuous learning, communication, professional conduct, and self-awareness in achieving long-term success.
Students actively participated throughout the session, engaging in discussions and gaining valuable insights into the qualities needed to navigate professional environments effectively. More importantly, the session encouraged participants to reflect on their personal strengths, areas for improvement, and the mindset required to achieve their goals.
The success of ElevateU was made possible through the dedication and collective effort of a passionate organizing team. The project was led by Project Managers Chamudi Athukorala and Sanduni Thathsara, whose commitment and coordination ensured the smooth execution of the event. The organizing committee worked tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure that every aspect of the session was meaningful and impactful.
Special appreciation is extended to the organizing committee members for their invaluable contribution and teamwork: Dilina Dakshika (Project Head), Naduka Pawan (Delegate Coordinator), Sajani Kodithuwakku, Dulakshi Chamodya, Jayathma Chandeepa, and Senuri Shanilka. Their dedication played a significant role in making this initiative a success.
Beyond being an awareness session, ElevateU served as a reminder that personal and professional success begins with small but consistent efforts toward self-improvement. It encouraged students to step out of their comfort zones, embrace lifelong learning, and confidently shape their own futures.
As the ZeroPlastic NDT Club continues its journey of empowering students through meaningful initiatives, ElevateU stands as an inspiring milestone in promoting professional growth, personality enhancement, and student development within the university community.
Every big journey begins with a single step — and ElevateU encouraged students to take that step toward becoming the best version of themselves.
