ZeroWave’26 Successfully Conducted at the Faculty of Allied Health Science
The ZeroPlastic Club, University of Ruhuna, successfully conducted the “ZeroWave’26” Orientation Program for second-year students of the Faculty of Allied Health Science on 09th February 2026. The program was organized as part of a continuing awareness series aimed at introducing students to the mission, activities, and opportunities of the ZeroPlastic Club while encouraging environmental responsibility within the university community.
The project was led by Project Head Roshel Lakshika, whose dedication and coordination played a major role in the successful implementation of the program. The awareness session was presented by Manushi Prathibha, who explained the objectives of the ZeroPlastic Club, its ongoing environmental initiatives, the process of joining the club, and the benefits students can gain through active participation in volunteer activities and sustainability projects.
The organizational and communication responsibilities of the program were managed by Secretary Hiruni Bhagya, while the event coordination and on-site activities were supported by event team members J.A.S A. Madhuwanthi and Matheesha Induwara. The creative and promotional aspects of the program were strengthened by Content Writer Bihari Bhawanthi and Graphic Designer Visith Rachitha, whose contributions helped effectively communicate the message of the project.
The program became more valuable with the participation of the special guest, Mr. Shrinath from CGU, who shared inspiring ideas and valuable guidance with the students. His contribution encouraged participants to become more involved in environmental activities and community engagement within the university.
Throughout the session, students actively participated in discussions and showed great interest in learning about the ZeroPlastic movement and its future projects. The interactive environment of the program helped create awareness about plastic pollution, environmental sustainability, and the importance of collective action in protecting the environment.
Overall, “ZeroWave’26” at the Faculty of Allied Health Science was successfully completed and marked another important program in expanding the impact of the ZeroPlastic Club throughout the University of Ruhuna. The program not only introduced students to the club but also inspired them to become responsible individuals who can contribute toward building a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable future.
