The Event and Fellowship Unit of the ZeroPlastic Movement, University of Kelaniya, organized the I ACT Workshop, formally known as the Italy-IRENA Action for Climate Toolkit Workshop, bringing together 121 university volunteers to deepen their understanding of climate change, renewable energy, and environmental sustainability. The workshop was organized in collaboration with the Embassy of Italy.

A Structured Approach to Climate Knowledge

The I ACT Workshop was designed to strengthen participants’ knowledge of climate-related topics through a combination of interactive presentations, group discussions, and role play activities. These formats encouraged university volunteers to move beyond passive learning and actively explore practical climate solutions relevant to their communities.

A total of 121 participants took part in the workshop, engaging with content that covered climate change, renewable energy systems, and broader environmental sustainability themes. The varied activity formats gave volunteers the opportunity to examine these subjects from multiple angles and consider how they connect to everyday decision-making.

Facilitation and International Perspectives

The workshop was facilitated by Mr. Lilan Dayananda, Managing Director and CEO of Elzian Agro, who guided participants through the program’s sessions.
