ChitChat Monthly Meetup 1.0 Strengthens Engagement at ZeroPlastic Kelaniya

ZeroPlastic Kelaniya launched its ChitChat Monthly Meetup Series with ChitChat 1.0, the April edition, bringing members together for an interactive physical gathering focused on connection and collaboration.

The event was organized by the ZeroPlastic Kelaniya team under the guidance of the Executive Board. The project was led by Project Head Shashini Ayodhya, with Event Coordinators Charuni Umandika and Sanduni Hashinika managing the session.

The meetup moved beyond a traditional meeting format and created a space for open discussions and active participation. Ice breaker activities helped members connect, while project updates kept everyone informed about ongoing initiatives. Members shared ideas, discussed future plans, and explored ways to contribute to ZeroPlastic activities.

A key highlight of the session was the recognition of member contributions through awards and shout outs. This helped increase motivation and encouraged more involvement. The session also improved cross faculty interaction, allowing members to build stronger networks within the club.

The event was conducted with the support of the ZeroPlastic Movement and the University of Kelaniya, showing strong collaboration between student teams and institutional partners.

The impact of ChitChat 1.0 was clear through improved engagement, stronger communication, and better teamwork among members. It helped build a more connected and active community committed to reducing plastic usage and promoting sustainable practices.

As the first session of a series planned from April to November, ChitChat 1.0 set a strong foundation for future meetups and continuous member involvement.

Introducing the ZeroPlastic Commitment Standard – the world’s first certification focused solely on refusing and reducing single-use plastics.
