Project S.E.E.D – Students Engaging Environmental Development

On May 20, 2025, the energy of Project S.E.E.D – Student Engaging Environmental Development came to life at the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Peradeniya. Organized by the ZeroPlastic Society with the support of SLASSCOM, the awareness session aimed to inspire environmental responsibility among youth. Around 400 enthusiastic school students took part in the event, which featured a series of interactive presentations and engaging discussions conducted by ZeroPlastic Society members. The session covered key topics such as the vision and mission of the ZeroPlastic Movement, the vital role of volunteers in promoting eco-friendly habits, and how students can become active contributors to reducing plastic waste. A special segment encouraged students to support or join the movement through simple, meaningful actions within their schools and communities. Real-life examples, thought-provoking questions, and group discussions helped spark critical thinking about the importance of environmental preservation. As the program concluded, the organizing team extended heartfelt appreciation to all participants, teachers, and sponsors. Project S.E.E.D successfully planted a seed of awareness and responsibility in the young minds present, nurturing hope for a cleaner, greener future.
