ZeroPlastic University of Peradeniya successfully carried out Mind2Act, an environmental awareness project focused on reducing plastic use to help prevent floods. The project explained how improper disposal of plastic blocks drainage systems and increases the risk of flooding, while encouraging people to follow responsible and sustainable habits.
With the support of MAS Linea Clothing, an interactive awareness session was held to share simple and practical ways to reduce plastic use in daily life and workplaces. Participants were encouraged to think more carefully about their consumption habits and take responsibility for protecting the environment.
The project reached over 3,000 participants, creating strong awareness and engagement. Due to organizational guidelines of MAS Linea Clothing, participant visibility in documentation was limited, while still ensuring the message reached a wide audience.
To turn awareness into action, A pen bin installation was introduced to promote plastic reuse and proper waste separation. This helped participants practice sustainable actions in a simple and practical way.
The success of Mind2Act was made possible by the dedication and teamwork of Dushmantha Wijesooriya, R.D.Y.D.S. Suharsha, Niraj Sasanka, Chamodi Nishshanka, Gimhani Liyanage, Kanchana Rathnayaka, Nipun Vidmantha, Amayuru Senadheera, Dehami Dissanayake, and Puvanraj.
ZeroPlastic University of Peradeniya sincerely thanks MAS Linea Clothing for their support and Neera Photolab for professionally documenting the project. Through awareness and action, Mind2Act highlights the importance of youth led efforts in building a cleaner, safer, and more sustainable future.
