The final Artisan Meetup of the series was held on 12th January at the Keppetipola Hall in Kandy, bringing the journey to a meaningful close. Surrounded by cultural significance, the session reflected on both tradition and transformation.
Artisans from the central region shared stories of perseverance of maintaining crafts rooted in nature while navigating modern economic pressures. Discussions revisited common challenges faced across the country, reinforcing that these issues are systemic and require collective solutions.
ZeroPlastic emphasized long-term support mechanisms, ethical market access, and the importance of positioning artisans as environmental partners, not just producers. The gathering fostered a strong sense of community, with artisans exchanging ideas, experiences, and encouragement.
The Kandy meetup served as a powerful conclusion to the series, reaffirming ZeroPlastic’s belief that a plastic-free future is possible when traditional knowledge, innovation, and people-centered action come together.
