Divinova: A Community Effort for a Cleaner Matale

ZeroPlastic University of Peradeniya successfully carried out Divinova, a community cleanup initiative aimed at reducing the waste accumulated during the festive season in Matale. The project was held on 4th March 2026 from 10.00 a.m. to 12.00 p.m. at Sri Muthumari Amman Kovil. The initiative focused on promoting responsible waste management while encouraging the community to maintain cleaner public spaces and adopt environmentally responsible habits.

With the active participation of university undergraduate volunteers, the cleanup activity was carried out within the temple premises and surrounding areas. Volunteers worked together to collect and properly dispose of waste, demonstrating teamwork, dedication and a strong commitment to protecting the environment.

The initiative successfully brought together passionate participants who dedicated their time and effort to improve the cleanliness of the area. Through this collective action, Divinova not only restored the surroundings but also raised awareness about the importance of proper waste disposal and sustainable environmental practices within the community.

The success of Divinova was made possible by the dedication and coordination of the Organizing Committee members of Divinova project and Directors of ZeroPlastic University of Peradeniya, whose planning, leadership and guidance ensured the smooth execution of the project.
