PADMAAVATH | Sustaining the Legend, One Sip at a Time

As the Diamond Jubilee Hall shimmered with the grace of PADMAAVAT – Ballet 2026, a silent but powerful movement was brewing behind the curtains. It wasn’t just a night of spectacular dance, it was a testament to how tradition and sustainability can take the stage together. The ZeroPlastic University of Peradeniya, through the Fellowship Avenue, stepped in to power this debut initiative, ensuring that while the legend unfolded, the environment was never forgotten.

The mission commenced at 5:00 PM, with our dedicated team transforming the venue into a hub of sustainable energy. By 6:30 PM, as the first note of music filled the air, every arrangement was flawlessly in place. While the performers brought history to life, our Fellowship Avenue worked tirelessly to ensure that the night’s logistical heartbeat was steady and plastic-free.

A pivotal moment arrived at 7:15 PM, when the University Coordinator and former Vice President, Nimesh Karunasingha, took the stage. His compelling speech on the ZeroPlastic mission turned a night of art into a moment of advocacy, inspiring the audience to protect our world as fiercely as we protect our culture.

The energy of the night was fueled by a meticulously organized refreshment distribution. Managed across three specialized categories – honoring the lecturers, fueling the tireless performers and organizing committee, and finally, serving the enthusiastic audience, the operation was a masterpiece of teamwork. By 7:45 PM, the distribution was successfully completed, leaving no one thirsty and no plastic behind.

This success was steered by our Chair, Anujah, supported by the administrative strength of Dilakshana and the financial precision of Dishanika. The strategic coordination of our event coordinators, Akalya, Tharusha, Shyani, Thiviya and Ronsika. Alongside the fundraising expertise of Sathusha and Kishanth, ensured a seamless experience for all.
Furthermore, this immense collective effort was narrated through the creative storytelling of our content writer, Nayomi Chanika, and visually captured through the artistic lens of our graphic designer, Akindu Hansith. Each member of the committee played a vital role in ensuring that every logistical and promotional detail resonated with our core values of integrity and excellence.

As the final bow was taken at 8:00 PM, a celebratory group photograph captured the pride of a team that worked in perfect harmony. Through PADMAAVAT, we proved that when the youth lead with integrity, every drop of effort creates a wave of change.
