ZeroPlastic University of Peradeniya successfully concluded ” ප්රාණ”, a tree plantation project which was driven by the ultimate purpose of reviving the greenery that had disappeared through the effect of Ditwah in 2025. The Cyclone Ditwah caused significant destruction to the University of Peradeniya, including its infrastructure and unique natural beauty. The towering trees that existed for more than 100 years, carrying the legacy of Mother Pera’s natural charm, were uprooted blink of an eye, leaving tears in the eyes of true nature lovers.
With the pure vision of reviving the greenery of Mother Pera, the ZeroPlastic University of Peradeniya stepped forward and launched the mission of “ප්රාණ” with the collaboration of the Mahaweli Authority of Sri Lanka and the MAS Linea Clothing under the media coverage of Sirasa TV and Neera PhotoLab for capturing every moment of the project “ප්රාණ”.
The project was implemented successfully, planting 100 + plants which would become giants in the future, with the presence of 70+ volunteers.
