ZP Roots 2025

The ZP Roots Orientation Program extended a warm and inspiring welcome to the 23′ Batch of Law students at the University of Peradeniya, marking yet another milestone in ZeroPlastic UOP’s mission to cultivate young environmental leaders. Held on November 11 at the Kannangara Building, the session brought together 120 enthusiastic undergraduates, creating an atmosphere filled with curiosity, energy, and purpose.

From the very beginning, students were introduced to the heart of the ZeroPlastic Movement—its mission, vision, and the growing urgency of environmental action in today’s world. The program highlighted how sustainability is more than a global conversation; it is a responsibility that young changemakers can embrace through collective effort and informed leadership.

This memorable event was skillfully organized by a dedicated and passionate committee, including Amayuru Senadheera (Voicing Team Leader), Disakya Aththanayake (Assistant Treasurer), Dilrukshi Kumaranathunga (Content Writer), Reshika Chamudi (Project Secretary), Nimesh Karunasinghe (Vice President), Pamuditha Bandara (Graphic Designer), and Chamodi Nishshanka (Director of Membership Development). Their teamwork ensured a smooth, impactful orientation that left students both informed and inspired.

As the 12th and final orientation program of the year, ZP Roots concluded its annual journey with remarkable success. The initiative has now reached multiple faculties across the university and has even received appreciation from the Deputy Vice Chancellor for its positive influence and wide-reaching engagement.

More than an introductory session, ZP Roots served as a launchpad for personal growth, awareness, and involvement. Students walked away with a deeper understanding of environmental issues, pollution challenges, and the opportunities available within the ZeroPlastic Movement to develop leadership skills and contribute to meaningful change.

By empowering its newest members, the ZP Roots Orientation Program continues to strengthen a vibrant community of volunteers—ready to take action, inspire others, and lead the way to a cleaner and more sustainable future.
