ZeroPlastic University of Peradeniya In Action…..

In order to give society, the responsibility to protect the environment, the ZeroPlastic University of Peradeniya organized a special eco-friendly program named “Trash2Tidy” on 22nd of June 2025. The main objectives of this program were to install garbage bins on both sides of the Kandy – Gampola main road near Faculty of Engineering and clean the road.

The main sponsorship for the successful implementation of this project was provided by Mas Intimates – Linea Clothing and Fire Plate Restaurant, and by collaborating with Udunuwara Regional Council. The voluntary participation of university students was seen as a special feature.

The main role of this program was to develop awareness about the environment and ensure proper waste disposal. The garbage bins installed on both sides of the highway provided an opportunity for the public to dispose of waste properly, and short awareness programs were conducted to instill environmental responsibility among the youth.

Operating under the theme “Trash 2 Tidy”, this project made a significant contribution to bringing back the value of a clean environment and engaging the society through a practical process. The steps taken by the ZeroPlastic University of Peradeniya can be proudly presented as a powerful contribution to the goal of creating an environmentally friendly Sri Lanka.
