ZeroPlastic University of Peradeniya successfully launched Green Connect 2.1, an inspiring orientation programme designed to welcome and mobilize the latest advocates for environmental sustainability. Held on 16th of February at Faculty of Science, the event served as a powerful introduction to the mission of creating a ZeroPlastic future within the university community and beyond.
The orientation saw an incredible turnout, with a total of 250+ participants coming together to kickstart their journey toward environmental conservation. Science Faculty’24 batch, whose energy and passion set a high standard for the year ahead.
The session focused on turning environmental awareness into tangible action. Participants were introduced to the core values of the ZeroPlastic movement, emphasizing how individual responsibility and collective effort can mitigate the global plastic crisis. The event highlighted that being part of Green Connect is not just about participation, but about becoming a leader in sustainable change.
The success of Green Connect 2.1 was driven by the dedicated efforts of the organizing team and active members who worked tirelessly to ensure a seamless experience for the newcomers. Special recognition for the event’s success goes to the collective contributions of S.Anujah, A.L.Nishan Madusanka, R.Saranya, R.Dilakshana, Gimhani Liyanage, K.H.A.S.Piumal, S.Priya, Shakya Ekanayake, Geethika Amanda and Nethmi. Their teamwork and commitment were instrumental in welcoming the Science Faculty’24 Batch into the movement and setting the stage for a year of impactful environmental action.
