On a mission to cultivate environmental consciousness from an early age, ZeroPlastic University of Peradeniya proudly launched the ZeroPlastic School Club at Kingswood College, Kandy. Organized by the Membership and Graphic Designing Avenue of ZeroPlastic University of Peradeniya.This initiative marked a significant milestone in creating a future generation rooted in sustainability and eco-responsibility.
The installation ceremony, held with the gracious presence of the principal of Kingswood College as the chief guest, brought together an enthusiastic audience of over 200 students from grades 7, 8, and 9, along with ZeroPlastic representatives, including volunteers and board members. The event was a vibrant gathering filled with inspiration, awareness, and a shared passion for positive environmental change.
The session highlighted the goals of the ZeroPlastic Movement and the importance of instilling eco-friendly habits from childhood. Students were introduced to the club’s purpose, its upcoming activities, and how they can play a pivotal role in reducing plastic waste within their school and beyond.
In a symbolic and empowering moment, the official club positions of the ZeroPlastic School Club ,Kingswood College were appointed, laying the foundation for a structured and impactful student-led initiative. These young leaders now carry the responsibility of guiding their peers toward a cleaner, greener tommorow.
With strong support from school leadership and active engagement from the student body, this club installation marked the beginning of a powerful chapter in youth-led environmental action.
