Seethadevi Girls’ College, Kandy to the ZeroPlastic Movement!

We are excited to announce that the ZeroPlastic Movement has officially established a new school club at Seethadevi Girls’ College, Kandy! This marks another important milestone in our journey to reduce single-use plastic in Sri Lanka and promote sustainability through youth leadership.

At ZeroPlastic, we believe that meaningful change begins at the grassroots level — especially in schools. Students have a unique power to influence their immediate families and communities, becoming ambassadors for environmentally responsible behavior. That’s why school-based ZeroPlastic Clubs play such a vital role in our national mission.

What makes this new club even more special is the support it will receive from the Open University of Sri Lanka, which will serve as the parent club. This partnership ensures that students will have access to mentorship, resources, and guidance to run impactful projects and grow as future sustainability leaders.

The students of Seethadevi Girls’ College are now equipped and empowered to take action — whether it’s through awareness campaigns, clean-up drives, plastic audits, or advocacy for policy changes within their school and local area.

This is not just a club. It’s a movement. It’s a step toward a cleaner, greener, and more responsible future — and we invite more schools to take this journey with us.
