Say No to Plastic with Supipi – Inspiring Little Minds for a Greener Tomorrow

The ZeroPlastic Community of the Open University of Sri Lanka together with the ACT 4U Drama Society of the Faculty of Education successfully conducted a special awareness programme, “Say No to Plastic with Supipi”, on the 30th of September 2025 at Supipi Pre-School.

This interactive session was designed to introduce preschool children to the concept of plastic pollution in a fun, engaging, and age-appropriate way. Through drama, storytelling, and creative activities, the young learners explored how harmful plastics are to the environment and how small daily actions can help protect nature.

Coinciding with Children’s Day 2025, the programme carried double significance: it celebrated children while also empowering them to become early advocates for environmental care. The little participants showed remarkable enthusiasm—listening attentively, asking questions, and even sharing their own simple observations about the world around them.

The collaboration between the ZeroPlastic Community and ACT 4U Drama Society highlighted the importance of starting environmental education at an early stage. By using creativity and play, the session successfully nurtured curiosity, responsibility, and love for the planet among the preschoolers.

This project marks another meaningful step in creating a future generation that says NO to plastic and YES to a greener, cleaner tomorrow.

Introducing the ZeroPlastic Commitment Standard – the world’s first certification focused solely on refusing and reducing single-use plastics.
