PenBin Love Reaches Gothami Girls’ College, Kandy
The ZeroPlastic Community of the Open University of Sri Lanka proudly expanded its PenBin Love Project to Gothami Girls’ College, Kandy, during the official initiation of the school’s Zero Root ZeroPlastic Club on 29th September 2025.
As part of this initiative, a PenBin Love collection bin was donated and placed within the school premises to encourage students to collect empty ballpoint pens. These pens, often discarded as waste, will be refilled or recycled and donated to underprivileged schools, offering both environmental and social benefits.
To further strengthen awareness, the ZeroPlastic team conducted an interactive awareness programme for upper school students, educating them about the impact of single-use plastics and the importance of sustainable alternatives. Students actively engaged in the discussion and showed great enthusiasm in supporting the PenBin Love initiative.
The introduction of PenBin Love at Gothami Girls’ College not only aligns with the ZeroPlastic Community’s national campaign but also empowers students to take small yet impactful steps toward building a greener future.
With the addition of Gothami Girls’ College, PenBin Love continues to expand its reach, inspiring the youth of Sri Lanka to turn everyday habits into acts of sustainability.
