*Vidyartha College Joins the Green Mission: Launch of ZeroPlastic School Club*
On the 27th of June 2025, Vidyartha College, Kandy, became the latest educational institution to join the nationwide environmental movement as the *ZeroPlastic Community of The Open University of Sri Lanka* officially launched the *ZeroPlastic School Club* within the school.
This meaningful initiative aims to cultivate eco-conscious habits among students and empower them to take the lead in addressing the pressing issue of plastic pollution. The inauguration ceremony featured an interactive awareness session focusing on the long-term environmental damage caused by single-use plastics and the importance of adopting sustainable practices in daily life.
The students and teachers of Vidyartha College showed overwhelming enthusiasm and pledged their commitment to the cause. The newly formed club will spearhead clean-up drives, plastic-free school campaigns, and community outreach efforts, with support from ZeroPlastic OUSL.
This milestone not only strengthens the growing school-based sustainability network but also lays the foundation for nurturing a generation of environmentally responsible citizens. Through collaboration, awareness, and consistent effort, the ZeroPlastic School Club at Vidyartha College will play a key role in driving positive environmental change in the region.
