Grevola 2026 Strengthens Leadership and Environmental Commitment at University of Kelaniya
The ZeroPlastic Movement of the University of Kelaniya successfully conducted its Annual General Meeting, Grevola 2026, on 14 March at the Social Sciences Auditorium. The event brought together members, university representatives, and partners to review the progress of the 2025–2026 term and to set direction for the upcoming year.
The meeting began with the presentation of the Secretary Report by Sarani Chamodya and the Finance Report by Semini Premadasa, highlighting key achievements, completed projects, and financial transparency. Outgoing President Virochana Piyushana addressed the gathering, reflecting on the growth of the movement and the impact of its environmental initiatives.
A key highlight of Grevola 2026 was the appointment of the new Executive Board and Director Board for the 2026–2027 term. The newly appointed President, Binowin Alles, shared his vision to expand ZeroPlastic projects and strengthen student engagement in sustainable practices. The event also included the introduction of new merchandise and recognition of contributions through tokens of appreciation.
The organizing team, including the Executive Committee and Director Board, played a central role in planning and delivering the event. Support from university authorities and collaborations with environmental partners ensured the success of the meeting.
Grevola 2026 reinforced the commitment of the ZeroPlastic Movement to reduce plastic waste and promote responsible waste management within the university community. The structured leadership transition and clear project direction are expected to increase the impact of future initiatives, benefiting both students and the wider society through stronger environmental awareness and action.
