On World Clean-Up Day 2025, ZeroPlastic University of Peradeniya launched GreenPulse—a lively community cleanup that brought students and local residents together with one shared goal: creating a cleaner, healthier tomorrow.
With teamwork and determination, volunteers cleaned neglected spaces, cleared waste, and helped restore the Gannoruwa surroundings. Members of the ZeroPlastic Executive Board were present throughout the event, offering support, encouragement, and guidance to the team.
The smooth flow of the program was made possible by a dedicated organizing committee: Chair Sineru Gopendra, Secretary Nethmi Thathsarani, Graphic Designer Julia Wijethunge, Caption Writer Christeen Withanage, and Event Coordinator Dilmi Weerakoon. Their coordination and commitment ensured that every part of the cleanup happened with purpose, care, and enthusiasm.
But GreenPulse was more than a cleanup effort. It created space for meaningful conversations about sustainability, proper waste management, and the everyday actions we can take to protect our environment. It encouraged reflection, strengthened community spirit, and showed how even small efforts—when done together—can make a lasting impact.
GreenPulse 2025 stands as a reminder that change begins with us, and that a cleaner future is possible when we work hand in hand.
