ElevateU: Empowering Students to Shine in Their Careers

In the fast-paced world of university life, balancing academics with personal and professional growth can be a challenge. Recognizing this, the Event and Fellowship Unit of the ZeroPlastic Movement at the University of Kelaniya took a bold step to support students through “ElevateU: Mastering Interviews and CV Creation” on 27th October 2025. The workshop brought together eager undergraduates from across faculties, all driven by the desire to enhance their career readiness and professional confidence.

The session was led by Mr. Viraj Abhayasinghe, a respected counsellor from the Career Guidance Unit and motivational speaker, whose guidance transformed the way students viewed self-presentation. Through engaging discussions, practical exercises, and real-world examples, participants learned how to craft impactful CVs, communicate effectively, and approach interviews with authenticity and poise. Beyond technical skills, the workshop encouraged students to reflect on their unique strengths, personal branding, and the confidence needed to take on professional challenges.

The success of ElevateU was a testament to careful planning and leadership. Reshini Perera and Charuka Hiran, Directors of the Event and Fellowship Unit, played a pivotal role in ensuring the workshop was not only educational but also inspiring, emphasizing personal growth alongside skill development.

By the end of the day, students left with more than just a polished resume—they carried renewed self-belief, practical tools, and the motivation to step confidently into the professional world. ElevateU reminded everyone that career excellence begins with self-awareness and preparation, and that every student has the power to shape their own path.

Through initiatives like this, the ZeroPlastic Movement continues to nurture not only environmental awareness but also holistic development, helping students grow into confident, capable, and socially responsible leaders.
