Dream Brush – Art Competition

Art Competition “Dream Brush” at Aaysha College Inspires Environmental Awareness

On June 5th, Aaysha College, Vavuniya, marked World Environment Day with a vibrant and thought-provoking Art Competition themed “Dream Brush.” The initiative aimed to inspire students to reflect on environmental issues through art, encouraging them to imagine and express a greener, more sustainable future.

The project was led by Project Head Nitharshana and Sub Project Head A. Niromy, whose passion and planning brought the vision to life. Students from across the college enthusiastically took part, producing creative artworks that addressed some of today’s most urgent environmental concerns including climate change, pollution, deforestation, and conservation.

Guided by the leadership of President J.A.M.P. Jayasinha, and supported by the dedicated efforts of Director of Event F.H.F. Haaneem, Director of Membership M.M.S.N. Hafsha, and Director of Public Relations N. Sanjeevan, the event was executed with excellence. Their teamwork ensured that every stage from planning to execution aligned with the environmental message of the day.

The competition not only showcased the artistic talents of students but also encouraged deeper thinking about environmental sustainability. It served as an educational experience where students explored how their personal actions and creativity could contribute to preserving the planet.

A special note of appreciation goes to a relative of a member of the Zeroplastic Vavuniya community, whose generous donation of pencils and erasers supported the participants. This gesture highlighted the importance of community support in empowering youth-driven environmental initiatives.

Each piece of art reflected a unique perspective some hopeful, some cautionary but all united in their call to protect the Earth. The event served as a powerful reminder that young people are not only witnesses to environmental challenges but also key contributors to the solutions.

The “Dream Brush” Art Competition successfully combined art, education, and environmental advocacy, reaffirming Aaysha College’s commitment to shaping responsible, eco-conscious future leaders. It stands as a model for how creative expression can be a tool for awareness and change and how communities, schools, and students can come together for a shared purpose: protecting our planet.
