Youth and the Climate Action – Creating big impacts through small steps.
Climate Action! Climate Action! Climate Action!
Nowadays this term is heard here there and everywhere. It is crystal clear that everyone’s attention has driven towards the climate action. The fact is correct that we pay attention on the climate action. But if I raise a question like that, what would be your answer?
‘Do we really take measurements to combat the climate change?’
Climate action refers to the efforts of stopping climate change and its effects. It includes reducing the emission of greenhouse gases, using more renewable energy, and embracing sustainable living. It’s making small steps towards protecting our planet for the future. Studying about the climate action, participating in webinars and workshops about the climate action, writing articles about the climate action are done by the youth very easily. But are these actions really enough? NO!
As the youth we have the power to step forward with climate action. They can start by reducing waste by using reusable bags, bottles, and containers. Recycling paper, plastic, and glass is also an important step. Conserving energy by turning off lights and appliances when not in use can also help. Traveling by public transport, cycling, or walking instead of driving reduces carbon emissions. Additionally, increased vegetable-based meals in diets and tree-planting in communities promotes sustainability. Participation in clean-up operations promotes involvement, while acting for ecological change through conducting awareness sessions. As the youth we can do many actions for the climate action, without being limited only to words.
While each step seems minor, when combined, they create a huge impact. When youths all take down their carbon footprint, others are motivated to do the same. They make others aware, and others begin thinking about sustainability. By being the example, youths are able to start a movement, demonstrating that small steps actually result in big changes in the fight against climate change.
Yes! I repeat, small actions can make a big impact. Therefore, Let’s start today to make an impact tomorrow.
