The ZeroPlastic Society of Wayamba University of Sri Lanka organized Generation SDG – Phase 02, a project carried out in collaboration with the Volunteers Academy by ZeroPlastic Movement. The project brought together young individuals and university volunteers to engage with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through a structured program of learning and collaborative activity.

The project was designed to create awareness about the SDGs and to help participants understand their role in addressing environmental, social, and economic challenges. By focusing on the connection between youth engagement and global sustainability goals, Generation SDG – Phase 02 aimed to equip participants with knowledge and perspective relevant to responsible action within their communities.

During the project, participants took part in interactive sessions and knowledge-sharing activities centered on the SDGs. These sessions covered topics related to sustainability, leadership, and community action, giving volunteers the opportunity to explore how the global goals apply to local contexts. Collaborative engagement formed a central part of the program, with participants working together through group-based activities that encouraged discussion and the exchange of ideas.

The project also served as a platform for participants to build connections with one another and to develop practical skills in teamwork and leadership. Through the collaborative format of the sessions, young volunteers were able to share perspectives and learn from each other’s experiences, broadening their understanding of sustainability challenges and potential responses. The program provided a structured environment in which participants could reflect on how they might contribute to positive outcomes in their own communities.
