The ZeroPlastic NDT Club of the University of Moratuwa recently organized the “Awaken 2026” Leadership Program at Agbowa Primary School in Alawwa, and it was held on 10th March 2026.With 75 excited students, we set out to discover what leadership truly means.
The morning session was full of energy. Through fun team games and group activities, students learned that being a leader means being responsible, working well with others, and having the confidence to share ideas. The children’s curiosity and smiles made learning enjoyable for everyone.
As a nature-friendly club, we also talked about caring for our environment. We discussed simple ways to reduce plastic use and protect nature. Our message was clear: True leaders care for people and the planet. We hope these small lessons, will grow into lifelong good habits.
The best part came after sunset. We gathered around a campfire under the stars. Students sang songs, showed their talents, and shared laughter with new friends. The warm fire and happy faces created a magical feeling of togetherness. It reminded us that the simplest moments often mean the most.
We are grateful to Principal Mrs. H.G. Indra Kumari for supporting this program. Our wonderful volunteers and team members worked hard to make this day special.
“Awaken 2026” was just one day, but its impact will last much longer. We planted seeds of leadership, teamwork, and love for nature in 75 young hearts. These children are not just future leaders. They are future protectors of our environment. We cannot wait to see them grow!
