Impact Center Sigiriya: Where Craft, Community, and Plastic-Free Futures Meet

We are proud to introduce the Impact Center by ZeroPlastic, opening on 5th February in Sigiriya, Sri Lanka. More than a place to showcase products, the Impact Center is a platform to restore livelihoods, celebrate traditional craftsmanship, and redefine what sustainability looks like in action. As Sri Lanka’s first Plastic Alternative Promotion and Innovation Center, it brings together community, creativity, and conscious solutions to shape a future beyond plastic.

For years, traditional Sri Lankan artisans and craftsmen have watched their markets shrink as mass-produced plastic items flooded local tourism spaces. The Impact Center is a direct response to that loss. By connecting 100 underprivileged local artisans with the vibrant tourism economy of Sigiriya, this initiative rebuilds access to fair markets while protecting cultural identity and the environment.

The Impact Center is not just a shop, it is an experience. Visitors will step into a space where authentic Sri Lankan craftsmanship comes to life. From handmade goods crafted using natural and plastic-free materials to meaningful conversations with the artisans themselves, every interaction is rooted in transparency, respect, and human connection. Each product tells a story of skill passed down through generations, of resilience, and of a future shaped by conscious choices.

Every craftsman represented at the Impact Center is supported by the ZeroPlastic Movement, with focused assistance to improve product quality, enhance visibility, and strengthen long-term market access. This ensures that impact goes beyond a single purchase, creating sustainable income opportunities and pride in local skills.

As we unveil the Impact Center logo, we invite communities, travelers, and partners to join us in finding solutions for plastic alternatives and rebuilding a marketplace grounded in authenticity and environmental responsibility. Together, we can restore value to traditional craftsmanship and prove that sustainability and economic growth can thrive side by side.

We extend our sincere gratitude to the Intrepid Travel Foundation for their generous support and partnership in making this vision a reality. The Impact Center stands as a shared achievement and a powerful step toward a plastic-free, people-powered future.
