*Empowering Youth for a Greener Tomorrow: ZeroPlastic Club Initiated at Seethadevi Girls’ College, Kandy*

On July 1st, 2025, a significant step toward environmental sustainability was taken as the ZeroPlastic Community of The Open University of Sri Lanka officially launched the *ZeroPlastic School Club* at Seethadevi Girls’ College, Kandy. This initiative, rooted in the vision of creating a plastic-free environment, seeks to inspire and empower students to become environmental change-makers.

The launch event featured an engaging awareness session highlighting the harmful effects of plastic pollution, the importance of eco-friendly practices, and the power of youth-led action. Students were encouraged to take ownership of sustainability efforts within their school and wider communities.

With the wholehearted support of the school principal, teachers, and students, the event marked the beginning of a meaningful journey. The club will now serve as a hub for various green activities such as campus clean-ups, waste segregation initiatives, awareness campaigns, and creative recycling projects.
This new chapter not only strengthens ZeroPlastic OUSL’s outreach but also nurtures the seeds of environmental responsibility in young minds, ensuring a cleaner and greener future for generations to come.
