🌿 SPOGOMI World Cup 2025 – North Western Province Qualifier: Empowering Communities for a Greener Tomorrow

Wayamba University successfully hosted the SPOGOMI World Cup 2025 – North-Western Province Qualifier. With the support of the ZeroPlastic National Movement, local authorities, and the community, 21 spirited teams gathered at Santhanapura St. Anne’s Church grounds, not just to compete, but to unite for a cause—cleaning and restoring the environment through teamwork and determination.

Within the competition timeframe, participants collected and sorted 100 bags of waste, transforming neglected spaces into clean and proud public areas. The event ended with Team 3 Zeroes being crowned champions, followed by Eco Squad and Eco Active as runner-ups. Though only three teams took the podium, every individual involved walked away with a deeper connection to sustainability and a renewed sense of responsibility.

More than a contest, this qualifier became a movement of collective action and youth leadership. It proved that the North-Western Province isn’t waiting for change—it’s creating it. The event left behind more than just clean streets—it left behind a legacy of unity, commitment, and hope for a greener tomorrow.
