Empowering Success Together
World Environment Day 2025- Project Ideas for Corporates
We provide practical, impact-driven solutions and dedicated support to help your organization lead the way in environmental responsibility.

Project 1
Implement a Simple Plastic Policy
Adopting a plastic reduction policy is one of the most impactful steps a corporate organization can take to align with environmental goals. ZeroPlastic has published a ready-to-use draft policy with simple, doable actions that any office can start with—no need for a complete plastic ban overnight. Begin by phasing out commonly used items such as plastic straws, lunch sheets, balloons, and PET water bottles at meetings and events. Most of items are already banned in Sri Lanka, and eliminating them from your operations helps ensure compliance while contributing to global sustainability efforts. Gradually expand your policy over time, fostering a strong culture of responsibility within your team. Organizations that take this step will also receive social media recognition to showcase their commitment to reducing plastic pollution in the workplace.

Project 2
Organize Employee Awareness Sessions
Conduct awareness sessions to educate employees about the health impacts of plastic pollution, especially how microplastics from everyday items—such as toys, food containers, and packaging—can affect children and families. These sessions can help build knowledge, encourage behavior change, and inspire long-term commitment to reducing plastic use in daily life.

Project 3
Avoid Beach Clean-Ups – Choose Community Clean-Ups Instead
Rather than organizing beach clean-ups, consider conducting clean-up drives in underserved rural or urban communities. Pair the effort with a door-to-door awareness campaign to educate residents about the harmful effects of plastic waste. This approach creates deeper, long-lasting impact by changing habits at the household level while visibly improving the local environment.

Project 4
Bamboo Tree Planting with Employees
Organize a bamboo planting event with your employees to promote sustainability and climate action. Bamboo is one of the best natural alternatives to plastic—it’s fast-growing, highly renewable, and effective in absorbing CO₂. This activity not only supports reforestation and environmental goals but also strengthens team engagement and responsibility toward nature.

Project 5
Zeroplastic Commitment Standard
The Zeroplastic Commitment Standard is a new international certification issued by the Zeroplastic Movement and audited by Control Union, one of the largest global accreditation bodies. This standard recognizes organizations committed to reducing plastic use and supporting alternative products within their communities. Zeroplastic provides assessment and implementation support to help your organization achieve Commitment Standard Levels 1, 2, or 3, gaining global recognition for your sustainability leadership.

Project 6
Support School-Based Environmental Events
Partner with grassroots organizations or community groups to fund or support school events focused on environmental awareness and plastic reduction. This allows your company to contribute to youth education and environmental action while supporting local communities.

Project 7
Donate a Chakrasuthra Vending Machine
Make a lasting impact in your community by donating a Chakrasuthra vending machine to your church, temple, or local gathering place. This smart machine accepts PET plastic bottles and beer cans, providing instant financial incentives to those who recycle. It not only encourages eco-friendly habits but also creates sustainable livelihoods for local collectors and waste pickers. Help your community reduce plastic waste, promote recycling, and empower individuals with meaningful income opportunities through this innovative solution.

Project 8
Run an Internal Pledge Campaign
Invite employees to take personal pledges to reduce plastic use—e.g., “I pledge to avoid plastic lunch sheets.” Display these pledges physically in the office or through a digital dashboard to foster a sense of collective commitment and accountability.

Project 9
Install ZeroPlastic Plastic Traps in Rivers and Canals
ZeroPlastic’s specially designed and engineered plastic traps are the perfect solution to capture plastic waste flowing through small to medium-sized rivers and canals before it reaches the ocean. By installing these traps, your community can effectively prevent plastic pollution from contaminating beaches and marine ecosystems.

Project 10
Empower Local SMEs and Promote Eco-Friendly Alternatives
The growing invasion of plastic products threatens the survival of eco-friendly artisans and small businesses that create sustainable alternatives using bamboo, cane, and other natural materials. Initiatives focused on empowering these entrepreneurs through capacity building, product promotion, and sales support can help revive demand for environmentally friendly products. Supporting such efforts strengthens local economies and promotes sustainable lifestyles by highlighting perfect plastic alternatives made by skilled artisans.
